II International Sustainable Development Forum: how state regulators can ensure the recovery of small and medium-sized businesses.

On October 6, 2022, the second International Sustainability Forum took place in Kyiv. As part of the forum, solutions for the transition to a green economy in the face of global challenges were presented.

The first panel discussed how state regulators can enable the recovery of small and medium-sized businesses.

Yevhen Fedorenko, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine emphasized:

"Today we have to create conditions for building a sustainable economy for business. Ukraine has already started what everyone should go for — sustainable development and recovery of the country. We are already on the road to recovery based on the principles of European sustainability, European values. All this shows that we are ready to become full members of the EU"

Laurent Dupuch, CEO & Country Manager for Ukraine at BNP Paribas and Chairman of the Management Board UKRSIBABBANK BNP Paribas Group added:

"According to my observations, Ukrainian business is more and more oriented towards ESG approaches. However, it is worth saying that this process should be continuous, business and the state should constantly improve their approaches, including transparency in work, strengthen their own staff, build sustainability in work."

Interaction of the state and business. Business and the state are entities that cannot live without each other. A state in which business does not work, the economy does not work is a utopia. Similarly, business without the state, without state regulation, is anarchy. And our task as People's Deputies of Ukraine is to ensure the full functioning of such relations based on the principles of openness, objectivity, transparency and, of course, responsibility. Elena Voloshyna, head of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Ukraine, and Arsen Makarchuk, Director of the Strategy and Development Department of the National Bank of Ukraine, spoke about this.

Oleksandr Sushchenko, Team leader, coordinator of energy and environmental protection project group at UNDP added:

"We are already helping with drafting the necessary agreements for business. We are also ready to provide appropriate funding for their activities in wartime conditions. UNDP can become an appropriate and necessary guarantor. In addition, for Ukrainian business and the state as a whole, it is an advantage that the European Union is becoming our biggest partner with each step."

All the speeches of the speakers are available in the broadcast HERE.

We thank the moderator of the panel Andrii Dligach, founder and head of Advanter Group, business strategist.
